New glare free LCD protection products for outdoor shots

Produced by Hoodman Corporation and distributed by Borge’s Imaging, a new range of glare fighting products –the snap-on FlipUp LCD cap, the Hood Loupe and the Universal Right Angle Viewfinder, together with new Hoodskins for fingerprint free LCDs, will help digital photographers shooting outdoors.

“Sometimes a shot can be accidentally deleted from the LCD screen in harsh light. Conversely, adjusting the brightness of the LCD screen may result in reduced battery life. Having the right LCD protection product at the right time can make all the difference,” says Michael Marlborough, general manager, Borge’s Imaging.

The FlipUp LCD cap is a long term investment in LCD screen protection and performance. It flips up into a three-sided hood for improved outdoor viewing and clips easily into place. The FlipUp cap slides over the eyepiece mounting flanges to cover the entire LCD screen. When in closed position, the cap provides protection for the delicate LCD screen.

Different FlipUp LCD cap models are available for certain cameras, including

Canon 300D, Canon 350D, Canon 400D, Canon 20D, Canon 10D, Canon 5D, Nikon D50, Nikon D70, Nikon D70s, Nikon D2HX, Nikon D100, Nikon D200, Fuji S-3, Fuji S-2 and Minolta 5D.

The Hoodloupe Professional is worn around the neck just like a normal loupe and provides complete glare free viewing when reviewing the shot. It has a +-3 diopter to accommodate those with less than perfect vision and adjusts focus just like a binocular eye piece, users simply turn the eye piece in or out to set for vision. Minimal magnification is used to eliminate visual pixilation of the image. Each Hoodloupe is encased in user-friendly rubber for comfort and protection from bumps that may occur throughout the shoot. It comes complete with comfortable lanyard and compact protective storage case.

Now there’s no need for a photographer to belly crawl to line up an 'off the deck' shot. The H-RAV Universal Right Angle Finder, which fits all Canon, Nikon, and Fuji Digital SLR Cameras, features a built in diopter with a 1x and a 2.5x capability, full 360 degree rotation and four mounting attachments to provide universal mounting. It comes complete with a compact, protective storage case.

Hoodskins are clear plastic skins that stick to a digital camera and camcorder's LCD screen and keep its LCD viewscreen free of fingerprints and scratches. A frame line can be drawn over the LCD screen as a reminder to use the ‘rule of thirds.’ Hoodskins are available in three sizes: HSK-2 fits 1.5 to 2" LCDs; HSK-3 2.5 - 3" LCDs; and HSK-4 3.5 to 4" LCDs. Each package has 12 skins.
