Sharpics D-Flector

Portable and lightweight D-Flector desktop studio produces clean white backgrounds

The process of getting a seamless white background in product photography is simplified thanks to the D-Flector Portable Photo Studio, a unique easy-to-clean reflective material (available in various size backgrounds) that activates when photographed with a flash or studio strobe, resulting in a bright white appearance.

Introduced by Sharpics Co-Founders, Jeff and Danica Mazon, and distributed locally by Borge’s Imaging, the D-Flector Portable Photo Studio was created to achieve clean and easy transportable white backgrounds when shooting product photography.
“Used with on camera flash lights, the D-Flector Portable Photo Studio is literally a background in a briefcase. It rules out the need to look for white material or edit out distractive backgrounds, and the resulting images need minimal retouching,” says Michael Marlborough, General Manager Borge’s Imaging.

The D-Flector Portable Photo Studio is effortless to set up, handy to carry and easy to store. Simply place the hard case on a tabletop or desk, open the D-Flector, position the object to be photographed on the interior reflective material, set up a digital camera on a monopod, check the settings and shoot!  A bright white background is created and objects appear to be floating on air.

“For clients who are looking for immediate results and wanting to participate in the process Deflector offer an onsite solution in a box for small object photography. I have used Deflector for photographing shoes and handbags and prepared food shots straight from the chefs kitchen for web and advertising content.” says David Corbett from The Photo Fixer in Thirroul, NSW.

“Only a bare minimum of post process adjustments are required because of the way Deflector reflects light back onto the subject for well managed shadows. With that in mind I can clean up the images on the the laptop, burn a disc for the retailer, and get paid before leaving the job. Something I love about the whole process.”

The D-Flector Portable Photography Studio comes in various sizes and accommodates a full range of products including: coins, dolls, food products, stereo systems, and even small animals.
